Doing the math

<<< Back to Vaccines

Even at a reduced concentration of 50 percent of 25 mcgs of Thimerosal [1. ] - a 22 pound infant, getting two half doses of flu vaccine, is still receiving far more Mercury on a per kilogram of body weight basis than a full grown adult.

In the past 24 hours I have received confirmation that at least four staff at a seniors' care centre in South Vancouver have had a serous enough reaction - rash and edema - to the flu shot to cause them to refuse any flu shots in the future. If the vaccine can hit a healthy adult what is a 6 months to 24 months old infant potentially in for???

1. A concentration of 1:10,000 is equivalent to a 0.01% concentration. Thimerosal is approximately 50% Hg (mercury) by weight. A 1:10,000 concentration contains 25 micrograms of Hg per 0.5 mL.
