Canadian Conservatives Appoint a "Svend Robinson" as Senate
Opposition Leader
OTTAWA, September 23, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - LifeSiteNews.com has
learned that Conservative Senator Noel Kinsella has been chosen as
Leader of the Opposition in the Senate. The appointment is being seen
as a "slap in the face" to small 'c' conservative members of the
party recently created from a merger of the Progressive Conservative
and Canadian Alliance parties. Like disgraced former NDP MP Svend
Robinson, Kinsella has been a political champion of nearly every anti-
moral cause related to life, family and freedom.
Brian Rushfeldt of the Canada Family Action Coalition told
LifeSiteNews.com that the move was a "slap in the face for true
conservatives." When informed of the selection Rushfeldt said
sarcastically, "Oh now that's a good choice, can we get any more
Liberal?" He added, "Why are we calling them Red Tories? They are not
Red Tories. They are Liberals - through and through in almost every
way."
Like Svend Robinson, his NDP counterpart in the House of Commons,
Kinsella has been a leader in introducing bills granting special
rights for homosexuals. EGALE, the homosexual activist group behind
the homosexual 'marriage' movement praised Kinsella for his work to
change the Human Rights Act to place homosexuality on par with race
in the human rights act. (Link here )
In fact, Kinsella and Robinson played tag team in Parliament by
introducing their pet homosexual hate crime legislation C-250 at both
levels. During the C-250 debate Kinsella was said to be responsible
for the fast-tracked navigation of the bill through the Senate.
Moreover, Kinsella thwarted efforts by other Conservative Senators
calling for more public hearings on the bill.

Like Svend Robinson in the House of Commons, Kinsella has been a
major supporter of legalizing euthanasia and assisted suicide. Alex
Schadenberg of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition told
LifeSiteNews.com he was "concerned about his appointment due to his
support for euthanasia in the past."
