I am sorry not to be vety well in englisc. Please could you say me is it really true that Kava ban stopped in Wales? I phoned a pharmacy and they said they have not. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Hi Trueman,

In the UK (England, Wales, Scotland and N Ireland) medicines law is still governed centrally (i.e. the bastards at the MHRA run the legislation passed by Westminster).

With Food Law, it is devolved to the different countries, so the Welsh Assembly and the Scottish Parliament make their own legislation (N Ireland is currently suspended 'cos they keep on wanting to kill each other). So when the Welsh Assembly realized that they had failed to comply with a directive that effectively made their food prohibition unenforceable, they revoked the ban before we even got to court.

I have asked them to clarify what they now propose to do, and await the reply with interest.

It is banned in Wales as a medicine.

It is permitted in Wales as a food (and therefore food supplement).
