We are a group of women who are not willing to stand by and let Health Canada
deprive us and our families of a safe, effective treatment for bipolar �
a devastating mental illness.
Over 3000 Canadians with bipolar affective disorder (also known as manic-depression),
are now using a high potency vitamin and mineral supplement called Empowerplus to
completely control their symptoms and lead normal lives. All without the
well-documented side effects of psychotropic drugs and in many cases with
the approval of their doctors.
These are our children, our spouses, ourselves.
Health Canada, despite public promises to the contrary from Anne McLellan,
has now banned Empowerplus, prevented shipments of Empowerplus from entering
Canada and has now gone so far as to order the seizure of bottles of Empowerplus
from desperate Canadians who have driven long hours to pick up their supplements in the U.S.
Health Canada has done everything it can to stand in the way of both research and
access to Empowerplus. For example, Health Canada has shut down a large scale double
blind study on Empower at the University of Calgary, funded by the Alberta
Government.
We ask who is Health Canada protecting?
We have a right to an effective treatment that contains nothing more than the
vitamins and minerals that Health Canada itself has
already approved!
