I got there early. I grouped in with 3 or 4 reporters that were
'signing in'. Name, affiliation, and phone # was all it asked for. I
went in under C.S.A.
I sat down up front and she returned asking me what C.S.A. stood for?
I told her and she left. I was thinking at that point that I was
going to be asked to leave. Not to be.
Press was told that they would have 15 minutes to ask questions after
the speeches about the Health Council.
Tim and another CSA and myself got up to the microphone and asked her
a variety of questions covering the cutting of CRIT funding, contempt
of court, the still unconstitutional regs, preventing the licensing
of compassion clubs...I wish I had a tape recorder there. She was
visibly rattled and annoyed by our presence but she decided to
answered us just the same... with programed denials, lies and spin.
I was last question they allowed and I left the room when I finished.
What a fantastic sight in the hall outside the door. Dom, Marco, Tim,
and 10 or more others all lined up with their signs.
HEALTH CANADA: WHEN YOU LIE, CANADIANS SUFFER! YOUR CONTEMPT KILLS!
SHAME ON YOU!

We were hanging out there waiting for McLellan and/or press when some
security thug told us to leave the hotel. He began threatening us
with trespassing. When we asked a hotel representative if this was
the Royal York Hotel's position, she said definitely not. We asked
this meatball for his credentials and he reluctantly and quickly
flashed some card I didn't recognize,,,I'm guessing he was McLellans
security goon. (Maybe her 'escort service' sent him over;)
We then went down to the front entrance and walked back and forth
protesting with our signs (I had a pot leaf flag) The goon came down
with back up. Him and his buddy had nasty attitudes, saying how much
they would like to meet us on their own time to give us what we
need. LOL, that just got us taunting them more. We ignored their
threats. I lit a few joints, we disrupted the main entrance of the
Royal York for half an hour or more.
It was such a great day. I'm totally freakin stoked about it :)--
