Dear Friends:
I don't watch CBC for self-evident, obvious reasons. But yesterday, I dragged my weary, near-70 year old body, to the wretched TV set to watch the much-ballyhooed CBC farce of same-sex "marriage" so that I could report it to you. All in service of duty.
And goodness gracious, it was painful to watch. The cloying hypocrisy of it all - never mind the unnaturalness of the act, against the Laws of God and nature - was too much to stomach. I almost threw up when the two men kissed each other in front of the whole nation, in front of children and all. What an example for the shameless CBC to set to celebrate the ancient, revered institution of marriage between one man and one woman. Another blatant affront by the "national" broadcaster to all the major faiths of the world and the majority of Canadians who uphold traditional family values. What's next: Will the trendy broadcaster, fattened by tax dollars of the unwilling long-suffering public, show us the "marriage" between a father and his daughter (or son) or the "marriage" between a mother and her son (or daughter)? Or other perversions?
I lament for this wonderful country led astray by such irresponsible, morally-bankrupt elites as the CBC. Poor George Grant must be lamenting a river of tears for his beloved nation from his heavenly home (pardon for a bit of hyperbole there.)
The hypocrisy (& the shameless little lies) of the CBC was a thing to behold. The "moderator" of the show (whatever her name was) kept on assuring the audience the CBC was "not promoting gay marriage." Yet this was exactly what the CBC was doing - in small, subtle, devious, imperceptible ways.
Liberals like the CBC value "feelings" or "emotion" etc above all. "Feelings" et al trump all reason or Divine Wisdom or age-old virtues & institutions or medical evidence or intellectual discussion or anything. And boy, was this CBC-promoted "marriage" ceremony emotional! The two men recited heart-wrenching, high-flown Neo-pagan love poems to each other in a supposedly "Christian" ceremony presided by a self-proclaimed Lesbian "Christian" minister of the Metropolitan "Church."
I kept thinking to myself: this is supposed to be a "Christian" ceremony? Would Jesus Christ, our Lord & Saviour & founder of our faith, sanction such a farce? Let's see what Jesus himself says:
"And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them
at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man
leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and the twain shall be one
flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath
joined together, let not man put asunder." (Matthew 19:4-6)
Jesus will have the last word for this segment.
The next segment below deals with similar subject but within the larger North American context in which we Canadians and Americans (indeed all people in our Judeo-Christian based Western Civilization) are inextricably involved.
Blessings,
In HIS service,
Robert

Did Catholics invent marriage?

Bill O'Reilly said it. It must true.
I heard him with my own ears.
Last Wednesday night on Fox News Channel's "O'Reilly Factor," the highest-rated cable news show in the world, the host said: "The Catholic Church invented marriage."
When you hear a statement like that uttered on national television, with no correction, you know it's time for a little review of the history of an institution that, many agree, forms the cornerstone of Western Civilization.
Marriage started in the Garden of Eden.
God had a perfect plan for man. It included one woman not two, not three, not seven. Just one. It didn't include another man. It didn't include any transvestites or transsexuals or intersexuals or metrosexuals.
There were no lesbians in the Garden of Eden. There was just one man and one woman.
That's the way God planned it.
Surely this arrangement was popular for many centuries. We know, for instance, that Abraham took one wife, though he did have a son with his wife's handmaiden, Hagar.
Marriage no doubt existed in other cultures, but the institution was really codified in the Hebrew scriptures.
Genesis 2:24 states: "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."
Notice it doesn't say "partner," it says "wife."
This principle is re-emphasized in the Christian New Testament by Jesus Himself in
Matthew 19:4-6:
And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Bill, I've got a shocker for you: The Catholic Church wasn't around yet when Genesis was written, nor when Jesus spoke these words.
Marriage is very much a part a central part of the Judeo-Christian tradition. In many ways, it revolutionized the world. It uplifted women out of servitude. It civilized men. It built communities. It was a pillar of the kind of self-governing society so admired by America's Founding Fathers and Founding Mothers.
Why is there so much misunderstanding about something so simple and good?
Why are there seemingly irrational attempts today to subvert something so natural and righteous?
Why are modern minds so confused about something so basic and Godly?
The Bible talks about that, too. And it comes with a warning one I would consider seriously if I were part of the same-sex marriage craze.
Isaiah 5:20 says: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"
That strikes me as exactly what our world is doing in so many ways today not just with the institution of marriage, but with many good things.
Right is wrong. Left is right. Up is down.
What does God's Word say will happen to people who make such claims? Isaiah 5:24:
Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff,
so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust:
because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word
of the Holy One of Israel.
That's all I need to know about the institution of marriage. I'm for maintaining the Adam-and-Eve model, not the Adam-and-Steve model.
