I urge every one to see this film. When the likes of Wainberg has to
resort to character assassination in defence of his position and, by definition,
his patents - you must know "there is something rotten in Denmark." -

SCIENCE IS A CLOSED BOOK?
SEPTEMBER 29, 2004. A film on AIDS, now showing in Canada, is ruffling more than a few preening feathers.
The Other Side of AIDS, directed by Robin Scovill, opens up the debate on whether HIV really causes whats called AIDS. Tickets are selling briskly, and the decline in numbers for an AIDS walk is being partially attributed to the films success.
Tsk, tsk.
From Canada.com, here are a few comments from the AIDS orthodoxy:
Mark Wainberg, a professor at the McGill University AIDS Center in Montreal, called "dissidents" who refuse to believe the wealth of research on HIV and AIDS "perpetrators of death" in an interview in the documentary. He eventually stormed out of the interview.
He was the first to identify and test the drug 3TC as a potential AIDS treatment and holds several drug patents.
Dr. Julio Montanner, acting director of the B.C. Centre for Excellency in AIDS, wasn't quite so hostile in his reaction to Maggiore's ideas, but no less emotional.
He admitted the film has him quite worried.
The busy, high-profile doctor immediately carved a morning appointment out of his schedule to defend the HIV-causes-AIDS theory to a reporter.
He fears for patients who are frustrated with the treatment, quickly losing hope and looking for any excuse to convince themselves they don't need to endure all the drugs and that there could be another answer.
"The success of the drugs depends to a high degree on the commitment of the patient to take the medication properly.
"There are a lot of people out there struggling to continue who need support and encouragement, not unnecessary doubts planted in their mind.
"If I am a bit emotional about it, it's because I need to convey the message to them that these are just a few naysayers and it's business as usual. Don't let them distract you from your task."
But many aren't willing to close their minds to the possibility that the scientists are on the wrong track.
Tickets to screenings of The Other Side of AIDS, held the day of the AIDS walk are selling quickly.
"It's sad people are still wasting their time on this discussion," Montanner said.
End of Canada.com excerpt
Perpetrator of death. Thats a nice phrase to apply to a filmmaker who wants to ask thorny questions.
Sounds a little like, if you dont support the war youre working with terrorists. Or the ever-popular, if you dont agree with me about who really caused 9/11, youre a CIA agent.
Strange, I always thought that people who advocated drugs that tore apart cells of the body were supporting death. But hey, thats just me.
Why dont 100 mainstream AIDS researchers get together and take AZT, that failed chemotherapy drug, for a year or so---and then submit themselves to a thorough physical exam? Some of the celeb actors who raise $$ for AIDS research might join in. Of course, after this test, the actors might only be up for parts in a remake of Frankenstein.
