As you scan through these statistics, just remember that you are less likely to die from taking a supplement than dying from bee stings, sports injuries, lightening, animal bites, horse riding, and radon gas.

Also, be aware that there are few categories for quantifying the number of injuries and deaths due to medicine.

A recent paper, Death by Medicine by lead author, Dr. Carolyn Dean analyzed government statistics and scientific studies to determine that there are an average of 784,000 deaths annually due to medical interventiona new disease category called iatrogenesis.

Only about 5 percent of medical mistakes are reported. Those that go unreported are often attributed to heart attack and stroke.

Another failure of death statistics is that cancer is widely under reported. For example, someone in the throws of cancer, receiving toxic chemotherapy and radiation, may have a heart attack as a side effect of treatment. There is a high probability that on the death certificate heart attack will be listed as the cause of deathnot cancer and not drug side effects.
