Feb 15, 2008Big Government advocates are personified by the current Bush administration, favoring central control of virtually every facet of activity in our society, from education to transportation and from the plumbing in our bathrooms to the bulbs in our lamps.
The federal government for several years now has been fighting a guerrilla action with citizen groups and a number of state legislatures over imposing on the states and the citizenry this privacy-intrusive and costly mandate. With the announcement Jan. 11 of the final regulations, the debate is fully joined and pits those who support the principle of states' rights against the legions of Big Government advocates. Feb 10, 2008In the light of as many as 6.6 million post-invasion excess deaths in Occupied Afghanistan as of February 2008 (see below), it is important to consider the major problems with this Bush-ite and neo-Bush-ite version of events as summarized below:
Top US Lawyer And UNICEF Data Reveal Afghan GenocideBy Dr Gideon Polya08/02/08 "Countercurrents" -- - The United States invaded Afghanistan in October 2001 with the ostensible excuse of the Afghan Government's "protection" of the asserted Al Qaeda culprits of the 9/11 atrocity that killed 3,000 people. In the light of as many as 6.6 million post-invasion excess deaths in Occupied Afghanistan as of February 2008 (see below), it is important to consider the major problems with this Bush-ite and neo-Bush-ite version of events as summarized below: 1. The US has a long history of "questionable" excuses for war e.g. the explosion of the Maine (the Spanish-American War), the sinking of the US arms-carrying Lusitania (entry into World War 1), the Pearl Harbor attack with now recognized US foreknowledge (entry into World War 2), North Koreans provoked into invading their own country (the Korean War), the fictitious Gulf of Tonkin incident (the Vietnam War; recently similarly but unsuccessfully attempted in the Persian Gulf as an "excuse" to attack Iran) and the extraordinary 1,000 post-9/11 lies told by Bush Administration figures, most notoriously about non-existent Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction (the Iraq War; post-invasion excess deaths now about 1.5-2 million). Feb 3, 2008Activists and dissidents should understand that evil forces and tyrannical governments have evolved. Just as human knowledge and science expand, so do the strategies and instruments used by rulers, elites and plutocrats.
The Evolution of Evil  By Joel S. Hirschhorn 01/02/08 "ICH" --- - Perhaps a global political apocalypse has already arrived. Activists and dissidents should understand that evil forces and tyrannical governments have evolved.  Just as human knowledge and science expand, so do the strategies and instruments used by rulers, elites and plutocrats.  By learning from history and using new technology they have smarter tools of tyranny.  The best ones prevent uprisings, revolutions and political reforms.  Rather than violently destroy rebellious movements, they let them survive as marginalized and ineffective efforts that divert and sap the energy of nonconformist and rebellious thinkers.  Real revolution remains an energy-draining dream, as evil forces thrive. Most corrupt and legally sanctioned forms of tyranny hide in plain sight as democracies with free elections.  The toughest lesson is that ALL elections are distractions. Nothing conceals tyranny better than elections.  Few Americans accept that their government has become a two-party plutocracy run by a rich and powerful ruling class. The steady erosion of the rule of law is masked by everyday consumer freedoms.  Because people want to be happy and hopeful, we have an epidemic of denial, especially in the present presidential campaign.  But to believe that any change-selling politician or shift in party control will overturn the ruling class is the epitome of self-delusion and false hope.  In the end, such wishful thinking perpetuates plutocracy.  Proof is that plutocracy has flourished despite repeated change agents, promises of reform and partisan shifts. Feb 3, 2008A Special Message from Trueman - Why do we the PEOPLE allow the wealthy ruthless elected officals to get away with creating self-serving wars?
Iniquities and Inequities of War By Ray McGovern"For the oppressors, what is worthwhile is to have morealways moreeven at the cost of the oppressed having less or having nothing.  For them, to be is to have and to be the class of the 'haves.'"Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the Oppressed01/02/08 "ICH" -- -- Finally, the truth is seeping out.  Contrary to how President George W. Bush has tried to justify the Iraq war in the past, he has now clumsilyif inadvertentlyadmitted that the invasion and occupation of Iraq was aimed primarily at seizing predominant influence over its oil by establishing permanent (the administration favors "enduring") military bases. He made this transparently clear by adding a signing statement to the defense appropriation bill, indicating that he would not be bound by the law's prohibition against expending funds:"(1) To establish any military installation or base for the purpose of providing for the permanent stationing of United States Armed Forces in Iraq," or"(2) To exercise United States control of the oil resources of Iraq."But, if you have been asleep for the past five years, you may ask, what about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and its ties to al-Qaeda?  A recent study by the Center for Public Integrity found that Bush made 260 false claims about these in the two years following 9/11.  He was followed closely by then-Secretary of State Colin Powell with 254. Nor can they any longer pretend they were deceived by faulty intelligence, since hard evidence that continues to accumulate shows they knew exactly what they were doing. [full story]

Jan 29, 2008Fluoride: Boiling the Frog Slowly
I have used Boiling the Frog as a moniker for this 'out of sight out of mind' issue for most. As priorities go, I implore you to familiarize yourselves with this most important matter pronto. Nobody but nobody else will do it for you!  As long as we keep subjecting ourselves especially our children to toxins (See: Water Toxicity - Hydrofluorosilicic acid) we will either remain or become sick, develop brain fog etc. and not thrive to our potential. Thus impairing our ability to think clearly and make decisions on how to deal with everyday issues let alone the larger issues without depending on some self serving authority... We are truly missing the boat and simply consuming our valuable time on issues that only clear thinkers and less impaired people can really take on! (and yes there is a lot that needs to be done). So activism starts with the basics first everything else is a distraction and simply prevents us from doing what we really want and can do. This is exactly how those in power (authority) like it as so many are simply kept 'barefoot and pregnant' so to speak. Please subscribe and take matters in your own hands as no one else especially those who pretend to look after our interests are clearly too busy looking after their own first! Going BankruptWhy the Debt Crisis Is Now the Greatest Threat to the American Republic By Chalmers Johnson 23/01/08 "ICH' -- -- The military adventurers of the Bush administration have much in common with the corporate leaders of the defunct energy company Enron. Both groups of men thought that they were the "smartest guys in the room," the title of Alex Gibney's prize-winning film on what went wrong at Enron. The neoconservatives in the White House and the Pentagon outsmarted themselves. They failed even to address the problem of how to finance their schemes of imperialist wars and global domination. As a result, going into 2008, the United States finds itself in the anomalous position of being unable to pay for its own elevated living standards or its wasteful, overly large military establishment. Its government no longer even attempts to reduce the ruinous expenses of maintaining huge standing armies, replacing the equipment that seven years of wars have destroyed or worn out,    or preparing for a war  in outer space against unknown adversaries. Instead, the Bush administration puts off these costs for future generations to pay -- or repudiate. This utter fiscal irresponsibility has been disguised through many manipulative financial schemes (such as causing poorer countries to lend us unprecedented sums of money), but the time of reckoning is fast approaching. Jan 27, 2008It is time the mainstream media and the public vigorously defended free speech, while HRC bureaucrats displayed wisdom by turning down the CIC and Elmasry's complaint, noting the best antidote to any harm from free speech is free speech itself.
Sapping freedom inside job? By SALIM MANSUR   Toronto Sun   1-26-8 Last week I commented on the outrageousness of the Human Rights Commissions in Canada accepting frivolous complaints as is the one brought by the Canadian Islamic Congress against Maclean's magazine. The greater shame than the HRC bureaucrats' putting chill on free speech is, however, the lack of outrage in the mainstream media, and public apathy on an issue that strikes at the heart of Canadian democracy. In a free society it is not surprising that organizations and individuals occasionally take umbrage over discussions of a general nature on any subject surrounded with controversy, and complain they have been injured or victimized. Jan 26, 2008There is not a doctor in the world today who will inject lead into anyone yet mercury is 100 times more toxic, and when mixed with aluminum and other chemicals and even hormones, mercury can be 1000 times more toxic than lead.
Scrapping the Entire Childhood Immunization Program             This morning I was talking to a professor of chemistry in one of our local universities in Brazil and it made me remember my rock of chemistry, my chemistry mentor, Dr. Boyd Haley, Professor of Chemistry, University of Kentucky. Chemistry is one of the most basic of sciences and usually we walk on solid ground when we read scientific reports in this field.      Medical science, medical officials and medical organization all have something in common, a disdain for the science of chemistry. When they read in plain English that thimerosal is toxic at doses much lower than are present in vaccines they pretend they are reading about the possibility of monuments on Mars. The grey matter in these peoples brains seems to turn to putty when addressing vaccine issues and specifically the thimerosal connection. Stupid is not the word, nor does medical retardation quite cover the insanity of medical officials who insists there is no problem injecting very strong neurological poisons in babies and adults alike.      There is not a doctor in the world today who will inject lead into anyone yet mercury is 100 times more toxic, and when mixed with aluminum and other chemicals and even hormones, mercury can be 1000 times more toxic than lead. Pediatricians have something seriously wrong going on in their heads and certainly in their hearts as they maintain their campaign of terror against the young ones in their charge. Thinking nothing of chemistry they simply continue to poison children as long as the medical officials tell them to do so. [full story]

The Stimulus Swindle By David Sirota, Creators SyndicatePosted on January 25, 2008, Printed on January 26, 2008http://www.alternet.org/story/74933/ "Stimulus" -- you've probably heard this nebulous, scientific-sounding word this week. Every politician suddenly wants economic "stimulus," and wants you to think this "stimulus" is unequivocally good. But here's the question: Why are we talking about "stimulus" only now? After all, most people have been hurting for quite a while. Paychecks have been stagnating, foreclosures have become commonplace, health care premiums continue their double-digit increases -- and up until recently, conservatives greeted such hardships with saccharine fantasy. Jan 26, 2008The victory of the Reform Party on January 24, 1848 was one of the most significant in Canadian history.
The Friendship that Brought Responsible Government     The victory of the Reform Party on January 24, 1848 was one of the most significant in Canadian history. For almost a year before the election it had seemed to the new governor general, Lord Elgin, that there was no real political life in Canada at all, as the moribund Tory ministry of William Henry Draper tottered to its fall. Although the Reform (that is to say liberal) Party swept the constituencies like a broom, the principle that the majority party controls parliament was not yet established. Colonial government was still firmly in the grip of the governor, who was appointed by London. The governor, in turn, appointed members of the legislative council (todays cabinet). He chose or dismissed advisors and vetoed legislation at will. The dramatic change from this autocracy to responsible government was achieved by the most remarkable political partnership in Canadian history that of Robert Baldwin and Louis LaFontaine. When the new parliament assembled at Montreal on February 25, Baldwin rose to insist that the new speaker be fluent in both English and French and he nominated A.N. Morin. The motion was seconded by LaFontaine and it carried to loud cheers from all parts of the chamber. It was not the first or the last time that the two men collaborated. [full story]

Jan 23, 2008There was no consultation; there was no effort to involve paralegals in this process in terms of, where do we go from here? This was the Attorney General calling up his friends at the law society and saying, "How would you like to handle this for me?
October 16, 2006 ACCESS TO JUSTICE ACT, 2006 Mr. Robert W. Runciman (Leeds-Grenville): A little delayed, Mr. Speaker, but this is the leadoff. I want to thank my colleague Mrs. Elliott, who is now officially the full-time critic for the Ministry of the Attorney General. I'm not sure what my title is, but I'm going to be in some way, shape or form, hopefully, supporting her as time goes by with respect to this portfolio, because there are certainly more than enough concerns surrounding the Attorney General's ministry in this province for two people to take on that challenge. I appreciate the opportunity. I'm told there are a few paralegals in the public galleries, and hopefully we'll see more and more of them involved and engaged come September 2007, leading into October 4, 2007 -- I believe it is October 4 -- with respect to not just this piece of legislation but other failures of the provincial government with respect to so many promises we heard this government make when they were in opposition and running for election and their failure to keep them. We've heard this theme over and over again -- saying anything to get elected -- and certainly that was the case in the justice file as well. I want to mention a couple of process things here with respect to Bill 14. Being in government for a little over eight years and being House leader of the official opposition, I haven't had, certainly in government, the opportunity to serve on standing committees of the Legislature. As House leader, I am not a member of a standing committee, so I haven't had that many opportunities to sit in on committee for quite a number of years, so this was the first extensive time since my earlier years in opposition. I have to say how impressed I was with the member for Whitby-Ajax, who is a very new member of this assembly and a very new member of our caucus but a very experienced lawyer and very articulate, very capable and, I have to say, very, very impressive in terms of the way that she handled the issues and represented the interests of so many people who feel let down by this legislation, to say the least. United States and Israel named on torture watch listFinally confirming what we already knew! After the documents were released as evidence in a court case relating to Afghan detainees, the government tried to get them back. (oh so slow) Sources say that Ottawa apparently wanted to black out sensitive parts that may anger allies." So knowing this why are Canadians dying in Afghanistan for The United States Government & why does Canada still fund Israel. How 2 faced can one get? And why does Canada allowing the continued lock up and torture of a Canadian Citizen?
