Codex open to wider comments

<<< Back to Codex

Codex Alimentarius, to which I introduced you about two weeks ago has, according to a recent newsletter, decided to institute an electronic forum that is open to comments "from all stakeholders, including but not limited to those representing government regulators, academia and science, the food industry and consumer organizations".

I find this is a remarkable opening to general comment and I believe that those interested in vitamin and mineral supplements - one of the themes of discussion of Codex - and who are capable of contributing some better understanding of the matter, should take a look...

The consultation runs from 1 October to 14 November 2003 and is a preparatory step to gather ideas on how the provision of relevant data to Codex by the various "stakeholders" should best be organized.

Explanation and instructions are downloadable from FAO in PDF files in English, Spanish and French.

Provision of scientific advice to Codex - Electronic forum

FAO and WHO are organizing an e-forum to promote discussion among a broad range of interested parties, as part of a consultative process to consider the provision of scientific advice to Codex and how the processes involved may be improved. The purpose of the e-forum is to encourage an open interactive exchange of views and ideas which will be considered in the next steps during the consultative process. Input is invited from all stakeholders, including but not limited to those representing government regulators, academia and science, the food industry and consumer organizations.
